Reports: Manchester United on the verge of seeing Odion Ighalo return to China

Odion Ighalo turned out to be one of the bright surprises of Manchester United’s 2019-20 season, as he quickly made a strong impression after on a loan deal from Shanghai Shenhua. The 30-year-old’s performances were so impressive that United have been keen to keep him on a permanent basis. However, negotiations have broken down very permanent deal and Goal.com reports that the striker could be back in China by the end of this week.

The loan deal expires on May 30 and Shanghai Shenhua are not willing to part company with Odion Ighalo on a permanent basis. As a result of football being suspended for two months, United have not been able to maximise Ighalo’s presence. The striker has only featured in eight games for United across all competitions, but he has come up with four goals and an assist in this run. These goals have come about in the Europa League and FA Cup, as his game time in the Premier League has been limited.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to step into the market once again to find a target man who can offer something different compared to the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
