Report: Three top clubs interested in signing outgoing David de Gea

Wantaway Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has generated interest from three of Europe’s top clubs, according to the Daily Mail.

De Gea’s ten-year stint at Old Trafford is rapidly nearing an end, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to go with Dean Henderson as United’s first-choice keeper.

Although the Spaniard began the season as the Red Devils’ primary option between the sticks, he has recently lost his place in the starting line-up.

The 30-year-old remains the club’s highest earner owing to his £350,000-a-week wages and still has two years left on his contract.

However, the Premier League heavyweights are looking to get the Spain international’s salary off their books, with a summer transfer well on the cards.

Despite tumbling down the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams, de Gea is one of the most highly-rated shot-stoppers in Europe.

Atletico Madrid are one of three top clubs interested in offering the experienced keeper an escape route from England.

Los Colchoneros sold the player to Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011 for a reported fee of £18.9 million and are now entertaining the prospect of re-signing him.

Diego Simeone has Jan Oblak at his disposal, but one of the best goalkeepers in Europe could leave Madrid amid heavy links with Paris Saint-Germain.

Even if Atletico fail to complete the Spaniard’s signing, the out-of-favour United star’s future could lie in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid could also be back for de Gea, having attempted to bring him back to Spain last summer.

Los Blancos and United did not find an agreement for the keeper’s move to La Liga a year ago, but much has changed since then.

The Red Devils are now open to the idea of selling their prized asset, which comes as a blow to improving Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgium international has enjoyed an upturn in form this season, although Zinedine Zidane still has some doubts about the 28-year-old.

Of all clubs interested in de Gea, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit look like the most sincere suitors.

But the Parc des Princes should not be discarded as a potential destination for the Spanish ace just yet.

PSG are desperate to land a high-profile goalkeeper to replace Keylor Navas and are enthusiastic about the idea of capturing de Gea.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions will have no problems committing the funds necessary to fulfil the player’s salary and tempt United into selling.

De Gea’s representatives are already working around the clock to secure him a lucrative terms away from Manchester.
