Report: Serie A giants dream of signing Manchester United midfield star

Juventus are still monitoring the contract situation of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and could attempt to sign him during the summer, as per Calciomercato.

The Frenchman’s current deal with the Red Devils expires in June 2022 and the club’s hierarchy have yet to make any progress towards committing him to a new long-term contract.

The Bianconeri are eager to re-sign Pogba, who spent four seasons with them between 2012 and 2016, and they have been tipped to make a summer move should the Red Devils fail to renew the midfielder’s deal.

RedRants view:

Pogba’s future has been linked with a possible move away from Old Trafford over the past 18 months, but nothing has materialised beyond the speculation.

The 27-year-old made a slow beginning to the current campaign that saw him dropped to the bench, while he was also the subject of criticism from some of the United faithful.

However, he has picked up his form since the beginning of December and has come up with some stunning long-range goals against West Ham United, Fulham and Burnley.

Despite this, there has not been much talk of him extending his stay with the Red Devils and there is still uncertainty whether he will remain with the club next term.

United are in the running for silverware in three competitions and the main target should be in the Premier League where they are equal on points with leaders Manchester City, having played two games more.

The title pursuit could be bringing the best out of Pogba while the midfielder’s form can also be attributed to him preparing himself for Euro 2020 later this year.

A strong showing during the continental competition could aid his push for a new long-term contract at Old Trafford where he could command a hike on his current salary.

It could also pave the way for a move away from the club. In that case, United would benefit as they could demand a higher fee for a player who is at the top of his game.
