Rasmus Hojlund’s agents raise level of pressing as Man Utd line up fresh offer

The representatives of Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund have raised the level of pressing amid his desire to join Manchester United, Gazzetta dello Sport claim (page 14).

The Denmark international is currently attracting interest from both United and Paris Saint-Germain. The former have already made a verbal offer of €50 million plus €10m in add-ons.

The proposal remains short of Atalanta’s asking price of €70m, but it could be a ‘matter of hours’ before the Red Devils make a fresh move to sign the 20-year-old forward.

Hojlund’s agents are currently ‘acting as the bridge’ between the clubs, and they have ‘raised the level of pressing’ as United prepare a second approach for the striker.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the young Dane, but they have been informed by his representatives that he is likely to move elsewhere this summer.

United clear favourites to land Hojlund

The Red Devils are currently in pole position to land Hojlund. He has agreed personal terms, and has made his mind up to join them instead of Paris Saint-Germain.

United still need to find a transfer agreement with Atalanta. They should be optimistic of doing so soon with Les Parisiens unlikely to provide competition for the player.

Talks are currently ongoing between the clubs. As things stand, Hojlund is expected to be in England for Atalanta’s friendly against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

This is probably the right time to secure an agreement. Hojlund could make the 190-mile trip to the north to undergo his medical, suppose a deal is finalised with Atalanta.

He could be available to train with his new teammates as soon as they return from the pre-season tour of the United States. This would be an ideal for manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag clearly believes in the potential of Hojlund. He feels the Dane is the ‘perfect‘ profile to lead the club’s attack, though he may not be an automatic starter from the off.

Marcus Rashford is anticipated to lead the line at the beginning of the season. Hojlund could play from the left with Ten Hag not wanting to put pressure on him right away to score goals.
