Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has heaped praise on Marcus Rashford during his press conference on international duty.
The Denmark international joined the Red Devils from Atalanta last summer, but he had to wait until September to make his debut due to a back problem.
Hojlund has yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League, but he has impressed in the Champions League with three goals already in the group stage.
Speaking to reporters recently, Hojlund was asked several questions about his United experience and one of those was on his co-ordination with Rashford.
The Dane said that he really likes playing with him and described him as a ‘world class’ football player. He added that Rashford is a player he has looked up to.
He said (via Tipsbladet.dk): “I really like playing with him. He is a world class football player. I enjoy playing with a player like him.”
“Yes, 100%. He’s a player I’ve looked up to, even though he’s only a few years older than me. He has done well since he came in as a 19-year-old and scored against Midtjylland.”
“I think he has been a great player ever since, and it is of course great that we are teammates today.”
Hojlund and Rashford need to develop better cohesion
Hojlund has made some clever runs behind the backline this season but quite often, he has not received the service. Rashford has been guilty of holding onto the ball.
The Englishman has tried to outsmart defenders with his dribbling skills, but it has only resulted in him losing possession. This has led to frustration among some fans.
Hopefully, we will see better co-ordination between Hojlund and Rashford after the break.
Rashford delivered a terrific cross from the right flank for Hojlund’s headed goal versus Galatasaray but in the same game, he made a dreadful pass on the counter-attack.
Bruno Fernandes would have had a simple tap-in but Rashford undercooked his pass. The €75 million-rated star is currently down in confidence and needs to pick up his form soon.
Rashford has the complete backing from manager Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman recently said that the 25-year-old is only one goal away from beginning another scoring run.
