Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund has an agreement over personal terms with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, according to RMC Sport.
The 20-year-old is one of the best emerging strikers in world football, and United recently made a verbal offer of €50 million plus €10m in add-ons to sign him.
It is now reported that the Denmark international has accepted contract terms with both United and PSG, but the former are currently ‘one step ahead’ in the race.
PSG have today made a formal bid of €50m for Hojlund. They have no plans of meeting Atalanta’s valuation of €70m excluding bonuses for the centre-forward.
United in the front seat to sign Hojlund
PSG have recently entered the pursuit of Hojlund, but they are reluctant to come close to the price tag.
On the other hand, United seem prepared to negotiate with the Serie A outfit. The club could make a fresh proposal for the Danish wonderkid in the coming days.
United manager Erik ten Hag has identified Hojlund as the ‘perfect’ profile to lead the club’s attack, but the Dutchman is prepared to give him time to adapt first.
Hojlund may not be an automatic starter at the beginning. There are possibly plans to play him from the left with Marcus Rashford leading the line for the club.
The Red Devils are not close to signing the young Dane, but they are reportedly confident of having him in the squad for the start of the Premier League season.
United may need to up their proposal to at least €70m to persuade Atalanta to sell. Gianluca Di Marzio reported yesterday that Atalanta are eyeing €80m with add-ons.
