Manchester United will face their rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Both Premier League clubs have spent over £150 million this summer to bolster their squad.
With the aim of at least securing a top-four finish this season, they will be eager to show their prowess on Sunday.
Man United and Arsenal have returned to the coveted Champions League competition.
United are drawn alongside Bayern Munich, Copenhagen and Galatasaray in the group stage. The Gunners have been pitted with Europa League champions Sevilla, PSV Eindhoven and Lens.
We pick a combined XI from their squads in a 4-2-3-1 formation, using only players expected to be available for the showdown.
GK: Andre Onana
Aaron Ramsdale is a valuable player for Arsenal but he is not better than Onana, who starred in the Champions League final last campaign.
Arsenal signing David Raya shows that Mikel Arteta also has some doubts over Ramsdale’s qualities.
RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Ben White enjoyed a fine season at right-back with the Gunners. However, Wan-Bissaka’s redemption in the second half of the previous campaign puts him ahead of White.
The former Crystal Palace man is one of the best 1v1 defenders in the world and has improved immensely going forward.
RCB: William Saliba
Saliba is Arsenal’s best defender and deserves this spot. He is a commanding figure and a bedrock at the back. Even if Raphael Varane was fit, we would have opted for Saliba.
LCB: Lisandro Martinez
The Argentine is the best left-footed centre-back at either of these two clubs. His determination, positional sense and passing range make him one of the top centre-backs in the Premier League.
LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko
Luke Shaw is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, so Zinchenko adds another Gunners shirt to the defence.
CDM: Casemiro
We are going to stick with the experience at the base of midfield. The five-time Champions League winner is one of the best in the holding midfield role.
CM: Declan Rice
We don’t want Casemiro to function as a lone pivot in a three-man midfield.
Declan Rice would be a great fit for the number eight role. He will tighten things up at the back and have the liberty to make powerful attacking runs.
CAM: Bruno Fernandes
Martin Odegaard is absolutely fantastic as an attacking midfielder. He possesses great vision and is a leader for Arsenal.
However, he is not ahead of Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese magnifico is a creative machine. Only Kevin De Bruyne is better than him in this role in the League.
RW: Bukayo Saka
Selecting Saka is a no-brainer. The England international is a generational talent and a future superstar.
Antony should learn a few things from Saka’s playbook.
LW: Marcus Rashford
We may receive plenty of heat for leaving Gabriel Martinelli out. The toughest choice for us – but Rashford makes his way in.
The United forward scored 30 goals last season and contributed to two goals for the first time he played on the left flank this term.
ST: Gabriel Jesus
Both teams lack a great out-an-out striker. Man United’s Rasmus Hojlund is yet to debut for the club.
Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah is still learning his trade. This leaves us with the automatic selection of Jesus up front.
