Raphael Varane breaks silence on Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has broken his silence on Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan last weekend.

Ronaldo has been the subject of immense criticism from the fans over the past few days, having said that he has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag.

A number of United stars have refused to comment on the interview, but Varane has now opened up by saying that it does have an effect on the team.

The €40 million-rated star added that he can’t express his own view and the players will accept whatever decision is made by the club over Ronaldo’s future.

He told reporters via Europe1: “Obviously it [Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview] affects us. We follow what is happening and what is being said.”

“We try to calm the situation in our own way, we try not to get too involved in it.

“When it’s a star like Cristiano Ronaldo, even more, so we try to take it with distance, that is to say that we do not try to change the situation alone, we are part of a collective.

“What I want is the best for my team so whatever the decision, as a player, we will accept it and give the best of ourselves.”

Ronaldo likely to have his contract terminated

Following his explosive interview on Sunday, there appears no way back for the Portuguese star. United should terminate his contract in the coming days.

They are currently ‘establishing full facts’ and severe action should be taken on the 37-year-old for disrespecting Ten Hag, Wayne Rooney among others.

Alejandro Garnacho’s stoppage time winner at Fulham was supposed to be the main headlines on Monday, but Ronaldo stole the limelight with his outburst.

United players are within their rights to keep quiet on the situation. Varane has now spoken out unlike Victor Lindelof yesterday, who just avoided the question.

There will be more and more questions raised to United stars over the course of the World Cup. The best solution could be to release Ronaldo as soon as possible.
