Pundit urges Manchester United to move for £45m valued Premier League defender

Manchester United have been advised to move for rival Premier League defender Caglar Soyuncu.

Talking on the talkSPORT Breakfast, football pundit Tony Cascarino has told Manchester United to go back to Leicester City for their defensive needs

This is what he had to say: “You’re talking about a centre-half, I think they should go back to Leicester and get the boy Soyuncu. He’s really quick. He’d sit alongside Maguire brilliantly.

Soyuncu has been an integral part of Brendon Rodger’s marauding Leicester City. He formed the Foxes’ backbone with former United defender Jonny Evans this season and has done a successful job in replacing Maguire at Leicester.

His performances in the past two seasons have earned him links to Man City, Man United and Barcelona before.

United’s defence has incurred heavy criticism in the past few months. The only player who has been spared is club captain Harry Maguire.

Now, Maguire needs a partner who can shoulder some of his defensive burdens.

The club have tried this summer to add a defender into their ranks.

They were rejected by Lille defender Gabriel in favour of league rivals Arsenal. They also fell behind in the chase for Kalidou Koulibaly.

Soyuncu can follow the footsteps of Maguire if he joins Manchester United. Maguire joined United from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for a world record fee of £80 million for a defender.

Leicester City value Soyuncu at £45m (€50m).
