PSG to make £50m swoop for Man Utd star

2018-19 French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are set to take advantage of David de Gea’s delayed contract talks at Manchester United, according to reports.

De Gea is heading into the final year of his £200,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford, and according to the Daily Star, PSG are ready to offer the goalkeeper a staggering £450,000-a-week to move to the French capital.

PSG have used both Gianluigi Buffon and Alphonse Areola in between the sticks this season in a campaign that saw them eliminated at the Champions League second round stage by Manchester United, as well as failing to win either domestic cup competition.

David de Gea’s contract situation could force us to cash in on the Spaniard this summer, with the report in the Daily Star claiming that Paris Saint-Germain could sign him fr as little as £50 million. The Spanish goalkeeper played an important role in Manchester United’s 3-1 win at PSG in the Champions League back in March.

The 28-year-old is currently going through his worst spell as a Manchester United player since his first season in England, but prior to this, many had consider him to be the best goalkeeper in the world.

Whilst we do have Sergio Romero in reserve, de Gea is simply irreplaceable. Failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League would make it that much harder to persuade him to stay, as well as making it tougher to find a good replacement.

Ironically, it was de Gea’s howler on Sunday that cost us victory over Chelsea, leaving us three points outside of the Champions League places with only two games to go.
