Premier League: Predicted Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa

Manchester United entertain Aston Villa in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils registered a superb 2-1 comeback league win over West Ham United on the road last weekend.

However, they suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss against the same side in the Carabao Cup third round in midweek.

The result won’t matter much in the context as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made wholesale changes to the starting XI.

United will be keen to continue their bright start to the campaign with a third-straight league triumph.

They are currently third in the standings, but only goal difference separates them from Liverpool and Chelsea.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Dean Henderson made his first appearance of the season on Wednesday. He was superb between the sticks and was the prime reason why United conceded just once to the Hammers.

Despite his sublime showing, he is widely expected to drop to the bench with the stellar form of David de Gea. The Spaniard’s late penalty save handed United the victory last weekend.

In defence, there should be a complete reshuffle with Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Alex Telles making way for the regular starters in the Premier League.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are currently the undisputed starters for United in the league when fit and available for selection.

Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic had another promising midfield outing in midweek, though the latter’s performance faded during the second half.

Some United fans are keen to see Van de Beek in action in the Premier League, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may stick with his preferred duo of Scott McTominay and Fred.

Jadon Sancho has yet to hit the ground running after his big-money move this summer. He may have to settle for a bench role with Paul Pogba continuing on the left wing.

Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood were only late substitutes in the Carabao Cup. The latter nearly scored after coming on but was denied by a strong Alphonse Areola save.

The duo will likely make the starting XI tomorrow, with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata making way.

There are no doubts over the involvement of Cristiano Ronaldo in attack, who has had a stellar return after 12 years.

The Portuguese has bagged a stunning four goals from three outings this term and should be raring to go after being rested for the midweek League Cup tie at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial had another poor outing up front in midweek. With Edinson Cavani set to return to action after a muscle strain, there are question marks over the Frenchman’s future.
