Premier League confirm fresh date for Manchester United vs Chelsea

The Premier League have confirmed a fresh date for Manchester United’s home clash against Chelsea.

The Red Devils were initially scheduled to host the Blues at Old Trafford this weekend but the game was postponed after the club’s progress to the FA Cup semi-final versus Brighton & Hove Albion.

The match will now be played on May 25 at 8pm BST. This will be United’s penultimate game of the top-flight campaign. The club will finish their league season against Fulham at home three days later.

Similar to the initial fixture, fans in the UK will be able to watch the game on Sky Sports.

United face crucial period ahead in the Premier League

The Red Devils are currently third in the standings, six points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have already played one game more.

Spurs are in action against fourth-placed Newcastle United on the road tomorrow and there is a good possibility that they could drop points again.

Hence, United are in a strong position to qualify for next season’s Champions League but they should not take their position for granted going forward.

The Red Devils still have another eight games left in the campaign and in our view, the club may require at least four wins to cement their top four spot.

It is pretty doable with the fixtures on paper and hopefully, this will be accomplished before Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford in the penultimate encounter.

United have struggled to beat Chelsea in recent times. They have drawn their last five league meetings.
