Premier League 2025/26: Manchester United need to make a fast start to the season

Manchester United will head into the 2025/26 season with one primary target – returning to the upper echelons of the Premier League.

Having failed to qualify for any of the three European competitions next term, the Red Devils can focus exclusively on domestic matters. While winning the title may be beyond United, the 10/3 on offer for a top-four finish could be decent value, particularly if the club completes deals for its summer transfer targets. Fans in Africa will be keeping a close eye on developments, with the club linked with several players who originate from the continent.

If United adds some African flair to their squad, the best online casino in South Africa will likely have a significant upsurge in traffic before the season starts. Bettors would be eager to boost their bankroll to fund their wagering activities on United and scooping a casino game jackpot would give them more cash to play with. Progress in the FA Cup and League Cup would undoubtedly be a bonus, but the club’s main aim must be forcing its way back towards the top of the league standings. With that in mind, read on as we look at the latest odds for the 2025/26 title race, before assessing why the first ten league games are hugely important for United.

Man United must get off to a quick start

The last few years have been tough for United fans, but the team could have new betting sites in South Africa running for cover if everything falls into place. Although no silverware is handed out after ten games, it is imperative that United make a fast start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign. The Red Devils won three and drew three of their first ten games last term and can ill-afford to repeat that record this time around.

The early fixture list looks tricky on paper, with United scheduled to face four members of the so-called ‘Big Six’ before the end of October. However, they have also been handed fixtures at Old Trafford against newly-promoted Burnley and Sunderland, which should be home bankers. United’s record against the other eight teams in the corresponding fixtures last season undoubtedly left a lot to be desired.

They recorded victories at Fulham and Man City and picked up draws against Arsenal and Liverpool, but were empty-handed in the other four matches. Games against Chelsea (H), Brentford (A), Brighton & Hove Albion (H) and Nottingham Forest (A) should generally hold no fears for a club of United’s stature. The fact that they collected zero points from those matches is a measure of how far standards have slipped at the 20-time English champions. Given their recent demise, it would be unreasonable to think that United will leave the City Ground on November 1 with a completely unblemished record.

However, a return of 18-20 points from their opening ten matches would be a solid foundation to work from for the rest of the season. While rival fans may scoff at the notion that United could garner that many points from their opening fixtures, it is an achievable target. Their acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers was a statement of intent and more new signings are expected before the season starts. If United can shift some of their underachievers off the wage bill, their squad would be in a much better place when Arsenal visits Old Trafford on the opening weekend.
