Premier League 2025/26: Manchester United face a tricky test against Brentford

Manchester United face Brentford in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Monday in a fixture which has plenty riding on the outcome.

The Red Devils could secure Champions League qualification with a victory, although they will need results elsewhere to go their way for that to happen.

Online bookmakers rate United as 4/5 shots to win the game, and those odds could tempt punters who are searching for a value bet.

Bettors who use casino game aggregators to find reputable wagering platforms will recognise how United’s price offers them the chance to secure a decent payout.

Popular games such as roulette offer similar odds on certain bets, but luck plays a much greater part in determining where the ball will land.

By contrast, the Red Devils have been more consistent since Michael Carrick was appointed interim manager following Ruben Amorim’s exit from the club.

With that in mind, read on as we preview what promises to be an entertaining encounter at Old Trafford.

Carrick keeps United heading in the right direction

United have won eight and drawn two of their 12 games under Carrick. They are third in the standings, level with Aston Villa and three points ahead of Liverpool.

Carrick’s side have a ten-point advantage over fifth-placed Chelsea, which gives them a sizeable cushion heading into the final five games of the season.

While United have improved since Carrick took charge, there have been some blips along the way. They include the recent 2-1 home defeat against Leeds United.

The Whites took advantage of shoddy defending to take a 2-0 lead and saw out the game despite Casemiro pulling one back in the second half.

The Red Devils shrugged off that disappointment with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Chelsea, which significantly boosted their Champions League qualification hopes.

Matheus Cunha grabbed the only goal at Stamford Bridge, and he could be a good bet at odds of 17/10 to get on the scoresheet against Brentford.

Brentford’s lack of cutting edge could scupper their European hopes

While Brentford are unbeaten in their last six league games (W1, D5), their lack of a cutting edge has prevented them from climbing further up the table.

The Bees have recorded three goalless draws during that run, which has scuppered their chances of sneaking into a Champions League qualification spot.

However, they could still secure a place in the Europa League or Europa Conference League, which would be an excellent achievement for the club.

Manager Keith Andrews has done an excellent job since replacing Thomas Frank, guiding Brentford up to seventh place in the table with five games remaining.

Odds of 3/1 for the game to finish as a draw could attract interest from punters who believe the Bees can make life difficult for United at Old Trafford.

They are rated at 7/1 to finish inside the top six, but could struggle to achieve the feat, as they still have to face Manchester City (H) and Liverpool (A).

United fancied to record a narrow win

Given what is at stake on Monday, both sides will probably try to keep things tight at the back.

Home advantage should aid United’s cause, and they look a good bet to win the game. Odds of 10/1 for a 1-0 scoreline are a tempting proposition.

Backing under 2.5 goals in the match at 8/13 should also pay dividends, although it may be worth including this in a multiple wager to secure higher returns.
