Manchester United travel to Bramall Lane for today’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways before the international break against Brentford. The club were on the cusp of another defeat, but two stoppage time goals from Scott McTominay secured a dramatic 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Manager Erik ten Hag will want to carry the momentum with another three points against the Blades. Ahead of the game, we anticipate at least three changes with United boosted by the return of key players from minor injuries.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana made another high-profile error against the Bees last weekend, but his blushes were saved by McTominay’s late heroics. The Cameroon international clearly needs to step up. Ten Hag mentioned the same in his press conference.
In defence, we expect a couple of changes from the Bees win. Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon are back after respective injuries. We anticipate them to make the XI.
Varane is likely to partner Victor Lindelof at the heart of the defence. Diogo Dalot and Reguilon look set to feature from the right and left-back positions respectively.
Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are likely to drop to the substitutes’ bench.
In midfield, there will be an enforced change with Casemiro ruled out with an injury. He twisted his ankle on international duty and has been advised to take a break.
In our view, Sofyan Amrabat may operate as the lone holding midfielder this evening. Mason Mount could play in a deeper central midfield position for United.
Further forward, club captain Bruno Fernandes should start in his preferred number 10 position as Antony could be reinstated into the starting line-up from the right wing.
Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund are pretty much guaranteed starters. They should take up their respective positions on the left wing and up front.
Rashford has netted just one goal for United over the entire campaign, but the fans will be hoping that he can find his scoring touch after his sublime strike for England.
