Predicted Man Utd line-up vs Nottingham Forest, Casemiro and Malacia start

Manchester United face Nottingham Forest on the road in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final tonight.

The Red Devils have dropped five points in their last two Premier League games at Crystal Palace and Arsenal, and manager Erik ten Hag will be eyeing a strong response at City Ground.

United go into the League Cup tie as clear favourites to beat Forest, but Ten Hag is unlikely to make wholesale changes. The Dutchman will want a healthy lead before the second leg.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

David de Gea has been one of United’s best performers over the past few months. He made a terrific reflex save to deny Eddie Nketiah last weekend but the Arsenal graduate eventually bagged the winner.

The Spaniard is expected to make his first Carabao Cup appearance of the season tonight. He will be eyeing his 13th clean sheet of the campaign.

There could be one change in defence. With Diogo Dalot still nursing a thigh injury, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will certainly feature from the right-back spot.

Wan-Bissaka was good with his one-on-one duels with Gabriel Martinelli last weekend, but was still at fault for two goals conceded with his poor positioning.

He still has much to prove to the manager. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez should start at the heart of the defence but there could be a change at left-back.

Luke Shaw had a tough outing at the Emirates Stadium dealing with Bukayo Saka. The England star could be rested with Tyrell Malacia getting the nod.

In midfield, Casemiro is an obvious starter after missing the Gunners game with a league suspension. He should feature in his preferred number six role.

However, his regular partner Christian Eriksen could get a breather. He was leggy against the Gunners and could be replaced by the energetic Fred tonight.

Further forward, no changes are likely. Ten Hag gave his full support to Antony in his pre-match presser. The Dutchman has backed him to come good.

The Brazilian should start on the right wing with Marcus Rashford on the left flank once more.

The United graduate has been in sensational form and scored with a sublime long-range strike at Arsenal. He also forced a brilliant save from goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Bruno Fernandes is a nailed-on starter in the number 10 position with barely any competition. The Portuguese was not at his best last weekend and will aim to improve.

Up front, Wout Weghorst looks set to start with Anthony Martial still out with a leg injury. The Dutchman has impressed with his hold-up play but needs to offer much more.
