Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Everton at Old Trafford this afternoon.
The Red Devils have suffered back-to-back league defeats to Fulham and Manchester City which has hampered their pursuit of Champions League football.
The club are already 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. They must beat the Toffees to keep their slender hopes alive of qualifying for the competition.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana has played every minute of the club’s top-flight campaign. The Cameroonian star has been consistent with his performances lately and he is expected to continue in goal. Onana will be eyeing his eighth clean sheet of the league season.
In front of him, it should be the same backline from the Manchester derby. With Jonny Evans declared fit, the veteran looks set to partner Raphael Varane at the heart of the defence with Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof occupying the full-back positions.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo have formed a quality midfield partnership over several weeks and there is no need to change things. Mainoo has been United’s best performer in the centre of the park. He won 100 per cent of his tackles and duels in the first half of the derby last weekend.
Further forward, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are assured starters in attack. Rashford has been declared fit after a minor injury concern in the derby. The Englishman answered his critics with a stellar long-range goal, but also squandered two big scoring chances.
In our view, he could be reinstated in his preferred left-wing role today with Garnacho on the right flank. Fernandes will start from his customary number 10 position. Scott McTominay, who was largely ineffective from the starting XI versus City, could be dropped to the bench for Amad Diallo.
Amad gained a fair share of experience playing up front during his time with Sunderland in the Championship last term. The 21-year-old deserves his maiden Premier League start of the season with Antony failing to make any sort of impact. Omari Forson has been ruled out of the game.
