Manchester United face Everton at Goodison Park in today’s Premier League clash.
The Red Devils are currently on a two-match winning league streak and have the opportunity to close the gap on their top-four rivals after Manchester City and Liverpool shared the spoils on Saturday.
Ahead of the game, the club have suffered another setback with Mason Mount likely to be ruled out for a month with a calf injury. The Englishman only recently returned from a hamstring issue.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana was nursing a pelvic issue earlier this week but he has fully recovered to return to training. The Cameroon international should start between the sticks against the Toffees. He has played every minute in goal for United since his summer move from Inter.
At the back, there could be one change from the 1-0 win over Luton Town before the international break. Sergio Reguilon looks set to drop to the bench with Luke Shaw available after a lengthy muscle issue. The Englishman should occupy the left-back position.
Diogo Dalot should continue at right-back ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka while Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof could retain their places in central defence. Manager Erik ten Hag tends to prefer continuity and Raphael Varane may have to occupy the bench once more.
In midfield, the Red Devils are without Mount, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen with injuries. Scott McTominay looks a nailed-on starter with the injury crisis at the club. He is likely to be accompanied by Sofyan Amrabat, who could get an extended run of games in the line-up.
Further forward, Bruno Fernandes will continue from the number 10 position and we should see Marcus Rashford on the right wing once more with Alejandro Garnacho on the other flank. Garnacho has started the last four games. The Argentine has got into terrific scoring positions but has lacked the finishing.
He should be backed by the manager. Rashford has been in a poor run of form this season but he is an assured starter. The Englishman has shown the willingness to cross the ball from the right wing. He played a key role in United’s winner against Luton scored by Victor Lindelof.
Up front, we won’t be surprised if Anthony Martial gets the nod. Ten Hag said that Rasmus Hojlund will face a late fitness test but judging by his comments over the congested schedule and player injuries, he may handle the striker with caution. The Dane could come off the bench.
