Predicted Man Utd line-up vs Chelsea, Hojlund leads the line

Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Chelsea in the Premier League tonight.

The Red Devils suffered their sixth loss of the top-flight campaign last weekend. They were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle United at St James’ Park but the margin of defeat could have been wider.

As a result, the club find themselves five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. They have the opportunity to close the deficit as the Villans face a tough challenge against Manchester City.

United have played out five draws against Chelsea in the last six meetings, but they won convincingly by a 4-1 scoreline at home back in May. They will be aiming to replicate the performance.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Andre Onana had a more assured performance between the sticks on Saturday. However, he was unable to restrict the Magpies from scoring with the constant pressure on the defence. The Cameroonian is expected to start in goal tonight.

In front of him, there should be one change from the Tyneside loss. Manager Erik ten Hag could revert Luke Shaw to his favoured left-back position after Diogo Dalot’s struggles last weekend.

In our view, Raphael Varane should be reinstated into the starting XI to partner Harry Maguire in central defence. Aaron Wan-Bissaka will most likely keep his place in the right-back position.

Scott McTominay lacked control in the centre of the park and he barely kept the Newcastle midfield at bay. We could see Sofyan Amrabat partnering Kobbie Mainoo against the Blues.

Further forward, Alejandro Garnacho deserves to continue from the left wing despite drawing blank at the weekend. The academy graduate has netted twice since the international break.

Bruno Fernandes is a nailed-on starter from the number 10 role with his creativity and leadership skills. Ten Hag deflected questions over Marcus Rashford’s form in the lead-up to the game.

The manager has been fully supportive of the England star despite his disappointing form and we won’t be surprised if he gets the nod over Antony again in the right-wing position.

Up front, there should be a change with Rasmus Hojlund reclaiming his spot ahead of Anthony Martial, who failed to make the most of his start against Eddie Howe’s side on Saturday.
