Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways during tonight’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Red Devils were second best against Brentford last weekend. They were completely outplayed in the attacking department and were lucky to pick up a point.
Manager Erik ten Hag will want a strong response against the Blues, particularly with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur dropping points in recent outings.
United are currently 11 points behind fourth-placed Villa with two games in hand while they are nine points adrift of fifth-placed Spurs with a game to play.
They have the chance to boost their Champions League prospects with a victory tonight.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana has been a mainstay in goal since the start of the campaign and he is guaranteed his position. The Cameroon star has shown drastic improvement in his shot-stopping. He was pivotal to United picking up a point at Brentford with four saves.
In front of him, there will be an enforced change with Victor Lindelof picking up a hamstring injury. Harry Maguire looks set to partner Raphael Varane at the heart of the defence.
Varane was taken off as a precaution on Saturday, but has returned to training ahead of the game. Lisandro Martinez won’t play any part after suffering a calf injury in Tuesday’s training session.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka looked out of sorts from the left-back role and was partly responsible for the late equaliser. Ten Hag should revert him to his preferred right-back position with Diogo Dalot on the left.
Casemiro should be fit to start after recovering from a minor knee injury. He should partner Kobbie Mainoo in the centre of the park with Scott McTominay dropping to the bench after a poor outing.
Further forward, it could be the same front four. There is the temptation to play Mason Mount in the XI, but Ten Hag has hinted that he will handle the playmaker with caution after his lengthy injury.
Hence, it should be Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford on the right and left wing respectively. Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue from his customary number 10 position for United.
Rasmus Hojlund could not continue his six-game scoring streak in the top-flight. He hardly had any chances at Brentford and will be hoping for more service from his teammates at Stamford Bridge tonight.
