Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Brentford

Manchester United face Brentford on the road in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.

The Red Devils have been in poor form over the past four league games, picking up just five points in the process.

Despite those results, they are only five points behind fourth-placed West Ham, having played two games less.

They can still make up the deficit, but Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are better placed to capitalise.

The Red Devils can’t afford to drop further ground in the Champions League race and must start winning regularly.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

David de Gea has been excellent between the sticks this term, making a Premier League high of 71 saves from 20 appearances.

The Spaniard had another solid game in goal against Aston Villa but could not prevent Villa’s late comeback draw from 2-0 down.

The 31-year-old has not received much protection from his defence this season and may have another busy game in west London.

In front of him, there could be a few changes. Luke Shaw is available after a one-match league suspension and should replace Alex Telles at left-back.

Diogo Dalot could continue at right-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka unwell, but Harry Maguire may replace Victor Lindelof in central defence.

The club captain was only on the bench after recovering from a chest injury. He should come in to partner Raphael Varane on Wednesday.

In the centre of the park, Nemanja Matic is expected to make way for the return of Scott McTominay following his one-game league ban.

The Scot has formed a solid partnership with Fred over the past few years, and they are expected to reunite at the heart of the midfield.

Further forward, Marcus Rashford could return to the matchday squad in midweek after missing the Villa draw following a dead leg.

However, he and Sancho could stay on the bench after Anthony Elanga’s impressive showing in his first league start of the season.

Elanga and Greenwood are widely expected to continue in the wide attacking roles, with Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 position.

Fernandes produced one of his best performances in a long while against Villa, but his brace was insufficient to secure maximum points.

The Portuguese is set to line up behind compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo, who should replace Edinson Cavani following his return from a hip problem.
