Player Ratings: Spurs 1-1 Man Utd

Manchester United’s Premier League restart ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw in North London on Friday night as Bruno Fernandes had to rescue a late point from the penalty spot following a David de Gea howler.

Our goalkeeper managed to elbow Steven Bergwijn’s long-range effort into his own goal despite the shot being straight at him. The Dutch forward was allowed the opportunity after strolling past Harry Maguire.

Paul Pogba came off the bench to win us a penalty in the final 10 minutes which Bruno Fernandes duly converted.

Here are our players ratings from Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Manchester United:

David de Gea 3 – Howler to gift Tottenham the lead just before the half hour mark. Prior to that we had been on top. David de Gea made his first save a few minutes after conceding with good concentration to deny a close-range header from Son Heung-min.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 5 – Tottenham didn’t have too many dangerous attacks but when they did they got in beyond Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The right-back got forward a lot and produced a couple of decent crosses but without creating anything of note.

Victor Lindelof 7 – Harry Kane won his aerial battles but saw little of the ball under control and never tested David de Gea. Victor Lindelof wasn’t involved in Bergwijn’s goal.

Harry Maguire 5 – Shocking defending for the goal as Steven Bergwijn breezed past Harry Maguire. Aside from that the England international was fairly decent.

Luke Shaw 6 – Poor headed in the build up the opening goal. Luke Shaw got down the wing and even won possession back in Tottenham’s own half, creating a good opportunity for Anthony Martial after the break.

Scott McTominay 7 – We saw much more of the possession and Scott McTominay was a good part of the that. The central midfielder won the ball back a few times and looked after the ball.

Fred 7 – Good in possession, bringing the ball forward to start attacks without being a playmaker. Replaced on the hour.

Bruno Fernandes 7 – Created a couple of chances and forced a couple of saves out of Hugo Lloris before coolly converting the penalty with 10 minutes to go.

Daniel James 5 – Very quiet game down the right before being taken off on the hour. Picked up a yellow card for a lazy trip from behind after being knocked off the ball nearly the corner flag.

Anthony Martial 6 – Received very little service up front as he struggled to get into the game. Anthony Martial did force a fine save out of Hugo Lloris just after half-time.

Marcus Rashford 6 – Rarely looked like scoring, played more out on the left than up front.

Substitutes

Paul Pogba (30 mins) 6 – Energetic 10 minutes after coming on, went quiet for a bit and then turned Eric Dier inside-out to win us a penalty.

Mason Greenwood (30 mins) 6 – Mason Greenwood eventually got into the game at the very end, winning a couple of free kicks and then dragging an effort narrowly wide in stoppage time.

Nemanja Matic (14 mins) N/A – Attacking change at 0-1 as the Serbian midfielder replaced Victor Lindelof.

Odion Ighalo (14 mins) N/A – Replaced Anthony Martial but there was no change in the lack of supply.

Eric Bailly (2 mins) N/A – Tottenham were back on top after our equaliser so Ole replaced Scott McTominay with an out-and-out centre-back to see it out.
