Player Ratings: Man Utd 1-1 West Ham

Another tired performance from Manchester United this evening as we were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford by lowly West Ham United.

David Moyes’ side took the lead on the stroke of half-time after Paul Pogba handled Declan Rice’s effort from a long distance away. Michail Antonio sent David de Gea the wrong way.

Mason Greenwood quickly levelled the scores after the restart but we lacked energy in the final half hour as we failed to cause Lukasz Fabianski any further problems.

Here are our player ratings:

David de Gea 6 – Michail Antonio’s penalty was placed in the opposite corner to which David de Gea dived. Otherwise the goalkeeper didn’t have a lot to do.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah 5 – A tough first half which included picking up a yellow card. Timothy Fosu-Mensah was replaced at half-time.

Victor Lindelof 6 – West Ham didn’t make the most of the space our centre-backs gave them at times. Unmarked players weren’t picked out and there weren’t too many efforts on goal from the visitors.

Harry Maguire 7 – Arguably our most accomplished performer on the evening. Harry Maguire made a few interceptions and clearances to prevent further goals from the visitors.

Brandon Williams 5 – Fell over time and time again, on and off the ball. Jarrod Bowen caused Brandon Williams a lot of problems down the wing but fortunately the former Hull City star lacked the final product.

Nemanja Matic 6 – Protection of the back four wasn’t always there. Nemanja Matic completed most of his passes without instigation too many attacks.

Paul Pogba 5 – Selfish penalty to concede on the stroke of half-time. Lacked any real creativity though generally looked after the ball well. Played too deep.

Mason Greenwood 7 – Fine finish for the goal. The recent rest appeared to do Mason Greenwood good as he looked a threat cutting in from the right once again today. Setup a chance for Odion Ighalo late on.

Bruno Fernandes 6 – Poor control to deny him a one-on-one in the first half. Didn’t test Lukasz Fabianski today and only created the odd chance. Bruno Fernandes lacked his usual creativity today. Booked for butting heads with Mark Noble in the final 10 minutes.

Marcus Rashford 5 – Offered very little threat down the left wing this evening, though did see a decent among of the ball.

Anthony Martial 6 – Forced a good save from Fabianski in the opening minutes, registered an assist for the equaliser. Anthony Martial couldn’t find the target with his later efforts though.

Substitutes

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (45 mins) 6 – Added some energy down the right immediately after coming on. Pablo Fornals, Aaron Cresswell nor Arthur Masuaku caused Aaron Wan-Bissaka any problems.

Odion Ighalo (7 mins) N/A – Fired a decent chance wide with what might have been his first chance. Tried too hard to force an effort between three defenders in stoppage time.
