Player furious – Manchester United didn’t agree terms with buying club

As per James Ducker of The Telegraph, Sergio Romero is furious to not have secured a move away from Manchester United this season.

Romero’s wife took matter in her hands and demanded justice for her husband who has been nothing but loyal to the Red Devils.

And it is true – Romero is the best back-up goalkeeper any European club has.

Earlier this season, Dean Henderson returned to Old Trafford and signed a contract extension – therefore suggesting he will battle #1 choice David de Gea. De Gea is a loyal servant too, however, he’s been a reflection of his past after the 2018 World Cup. But, de Gea is backed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Romero has no role to play.

With Henderson becoming the #2 choice, Romero doesn’t get a cut into getting minutes. Any footballer will want to start every game. There were offers from different big clubs – Chelsea, Everton, and Aston Villa. But, United’s transfer strategy doesn’t include selling players to their rival clubs in the Premier League.

Everton made a last-ditch attempt on the deadline day to finalize a deal but nothing worked out as he was priced out of the deal. Alternatively, Chelsea signed Edouard Mendy, Villa signed Emiliano Martinez and Everton ended up with Robin Olsen.

Our take

Romero deserves better – we hope United find him a new club in January and everything is settled off-the-pitch.
