Portuguese goalkeeper Joel Pereira is back in training with Manchester United following his loan spell with Hearts in Scotland.
The 23-year-old had been a regular first team player at Tynecastle prior to the league’s premature suspension in mid-March.
Pereira remained out on loan north of the border until he was recalled last month.
The former Portuguese under-21 declared himself “Missing this feeling, happy to be back” after first team training again for the first time in 2020, in an Instagram post on Monday afternoon.
Joel Perreira was highly-rated when he arrived to Old Trafford as a teenager in 2015 but couldn’t dislodge Sergio Romero as Manchester United’s number two and has since found himself constantly out on loan.
He had spells at Rochdale, Belenenses, Vitoria de Setubal and Kortrijk prior to this season.
The emergence of Dean Henderson, performing well for a second season on loan at Sheffield United has put Joel Pereira’s future at Manchester United in jeopardy.
His performances at Hearts won’t have helped his future at the Red Devils, conceding weak efforts as his team were bottom of the league and ultimately relegated after the league’s controversial finish.
The January signing of Nathan Bishop from Southend United added further competition to Pereira, suggesting the Swiss-born goalkeeper may not have much of a future at the club.
