Italian forward Giuseppe Rossi has been back in training with Manchester United today.
The 31-year-old is currently unattached and attended training with our first-team on the invite of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.
Rossi was briefly with us between 2004-07 but this did include loan spells with Newcastle United and Parma, before moving onto Villarreal in Spain.
The American-born attacker has struggled with injuries throughout this career and was limited to only nine league appearances with Genoa last season before being released.
However, Ole has no interested in signing Giuseppe Rossi on a free transfer. Our caretaker manager told MUTV:
“We’re not going to sign Giuseppe I think, no, but he’s trained well with us,”” said Ole, before he revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson was impressed by his finishing.
“He looks sharp, he’s looking for a club so Giuseppe is probably going to stay with us for another week, unless someone takes him.
“He scored a fantastic goal yesterday [Saturday] in training. The gaffer [Sir Alex] turned around and said ‘what about that son?’
“”It’s a bit of us helping him to get fit before his next move, so if there are any takers you should be quick!”
Both Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku have proven to be lethal in front of goal when they have played under the Norwegian so there is no need to even consider bringing the former Italian international back to Old Trafford.
Rashford has scored four goals in five Premier League starts under Solskjaer, whilst Lukaku has netted in two of his three league substitute appearances and scored in his start against Reading in the FA Cup earlier this month.
Marcus Rashford is expected to start on Saturday when we face Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
