Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has chosen Fred as his favourite Red Devils player this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have gone through a disappointing league campaign where they have failed to compete at the top but they are still in a good position to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
In a recent Q&A session with the fans, Schmeichel was asked his favourite United player this term and he went with the name of Fred, who has been an undisputed starter in the league since October 2019.
He tweeted:

Fred was initially a regular off the bench with Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira and Nemanja Matic favoured ahead of him in the centre of the park.
However, injuries to the likes of Pogba and Matic enabled him to return to the starting XI on a regular basis from October and he has since cemented his position in the club’s midfield.
The Brazil international has impressed with his workrate, recoveries and tackling over the course of the season and he has particularly excelled in the big games for United.
Prior to the coronavirus shutdown, he was able to make an impact in an attacking sense with two goals and three assists from five appearances – though each of those contributions came in the Europa League.
He has certainly become a huge favourite among the fans and it remains to be seen whether he can beat the likes of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes to the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.
