‘Paul Pogba without the baggage’ – Man United have a Pogba replacement lined up

Manchester United are going through tough times as their most-expensive transfer hints an exit.

The World-Cup winning midfielder wants to join Real Madrid in the future and it is his dream to work with Zinedine Zidane. Pogba hasn’t renewed his contract with the Red Devils which is set to expire next summer. However, he is staying for the current season.

United have the perfect replacement lined up for Pogba. It is Boubakary Soumare. Sky Sports’ reporter Gary Cotterill define him as ‘Paul Pogba without the baggage.’

Soumare will be a perfect addition to United’s midfielder. He will offer depth and uniqueness to the current options. The 21-year-old midfielder likes to sit deep: intercepting passes, closing down channels, winning the ball back and distribute it forward.

After Bruno Fernandes’ arrival, Pogba settled for a deeper role and had defensive and distribution responsibilities. He isn’t fitting well into the system. Against Spurs in a 1-6 defeat, he was almost invisible. Apart from occasional brilliance, there’s nothing Pogba offers United on the pitch. United could do more and Soumare should be a no-brainer signing if Pogba decides to leave.

Soumare is on United’s radar for a long time. Lille wanted him to leave – Soumare wanted to join United – but no agreement was taken place. United ended up signing Fernandes.

Last month, Lille president Gerard Lopez confirmed that he will undoubtedly leave. Soumare has rejected offers from Newcastle United and Wolves in the past. He is waiting for an offer from either United or Liverpool. With Liverpool signing Thiago and there’s no recent news of any midfielder departing the club, United have an advantage.
