Paul Pogba names the two toughest opponents he faced as a footballer

Manchester United ace Paul Pogba has named the two toughest opponents he has faced as a professional and singled out his best performance in the red shirt.

In an interview with the club’s official website, the France international was asked to identify the two most difficult adversaries he has been up against as a footballer.

The first player the 28-year-old referred to is his international colleague and current Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.

While enjoying a rise to stardom at Leicester City, the 30-year-old earned a reputation as one of the finest defensive midfielders in world football.

Known for his interception skills and impeccable tackling, Kante played a pivotal role in Leicester’s historic Premier League title before joining Chelsea in summer 2016.

“My toughest opponent on the pitch? To be honest, it is tough against N’Golo Kante,” Pogba admitted.

“Casemiro [of Real Madrid] too… he is a hard one also. I cannot remember all of them; they are the first ones that come into mind that I had.

“Yes, those are the first ones. Maybe there are a few more players, but I do not have the names now.”

The World Cup winner also mentioned Casemiro, who has been outstanding en route to lifting three consecutive Champions League titles with Madrid.

The Brazilian holding midfielder also scored for Los Blancos in a 2-1 win over United in the 2017 Super Cup, which seems to have embedded in Pogba’s memory.

Speaking of his personal achievements at Old Trafford, the former Juventus star has admitted he has fond memories of United’s trip to the Etihad in 2018.

“I would say because it is a memory of the game, the 3-2 versus Manchester City because I scored two,” he said.

“We ended up winning, but if City won the game, they were going to be champions against us. We avoided that, so I would say this one.”
