Paris Saint-Germain have added Marcus Rashford to their summer wishlist as they look to find a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, according to The Times‘ Duncan Castles.
The French champions will have a massive void to fill in their frontline next season with Mbappe set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Les Parisiens have been linked with Victor Osimhen in recent days, but Castles reports that the club have long admired Rashford and he could be an ideal successor.
Rashford can operate from the left wing or as a main striker like Mbappe. Luis Enrique’s side have €200 million to spend on a rebuild with wages saved from the Frenchman’s exit.
United must not ponder Rashford’s sale this summer
Rashford had a stellar 2022/23 campaign with United, scoring 30 goals and providing 11 assists. He has struggled to replicate his form this term with only five goals and six assists.
He has suffered a drastic dip in his goal contributions compared to last season, but this does not reduce his importance. The attacker has started to find his rhythm in recent weeks.
The club graduate remains an undisputed starter under manager Erik ten Hag. We saw how he responded on the back of a poor 2021/22 season with 41 goal contributions last term.
United need player sales this summer before they can invest big in the transfer market, but the hierarchy must not ponder over the prospect of parting ways with the €70 million-rated star.
Unless Rashford hands in a surprise transfer request, the club have no reason to entertain bids. The focus should be on recouping funds by selling fringe players than an important one.
