Manchester United should look to sign Ibrahim Sangare from PSV Eindhoven as negotiations for Sofyan Amrabat continue to drag on.
The 25-year-old PSV midfielder would be a better option for Man United than the Morocco international, and he is available for a bargain fee.
According to ESPN in Holland, Sanagre has a €37 million (£32m) release clause inserted into his current contract.
And for a player with the Ivory Coast international’s quality, signing him should be an absolute no-brainer for United manager Erik ten Hag.
United don’t want to pay what the Italian club are demanding for the 26-year-old.
While Sangare would be more expensive than Amrabat, he’d be a far better value for money than the Moroccan.
Manchester United should stop chasing Sofyan Amrabat
Sangare could be the man to take United to another level. He’s a defensive midfielder who could provide cover and competition for Casemiro, but he could also play alongside the Brazilian.
The Ivorian can play the box-to-box role comfortably and is a real threat going forward with his immersive pace, power and ball-carrying ability.
He bagged eight goals and three assists in 45 games last term and already has one goal and one assist to his name in three outings this season.
Current Benfica manager Roger Schmidt described Sangare as ‘unstoppable’ in 2021 (Dutch media outlet ED). He’s spot on as well – the PSV ace is one of the best in world football in his specific position.
Check out this comparison between Sangare and Amrabat. The PSV man leads the Fiorentina midfielder in five out of seven categories whilst they played a similar amount of minutes last season:
Sanagre is a year younger than Sofyan Amrabat, so signing him this summer should be an easy decision for Ten Hag to make.
There is something to be aware of, though – United will not have things all their own way in the race for the PSV star.
Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest all want to sign the midfield powerhouse, according to ESPN in Holland.
If the Red Devils really want to sign the Ivorian, they had better act quickly. Sangare has the ability needed to take Ten Hag’s side to the promised land.
He’s ideally suited to the physicality and speed of the Premier League, and a midfield trio of the 6ft 3ins ace alongside Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes is an exciting prospect.
