Some Manchester United fans have appreciated the display from midfielder Scott McTominay during the club’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League on Monday night.
The game was tactically fought during the first period with neither team gaining the advantage, but McTominay broke the deadlock before the break after a fantastic long-range strike which was aided by a slight deflection.
His goalscoring contribution was not sufficient to hand the Red Devils with the victory after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised for the Gunners but the supporters have still praised his all-round performance.
Here are some of the Twitter reactions…
The only player who shows fight for #mufc is Scott McTominay. #MUNARS

Legit people need to put some respeck on McTominay’s name. Even @ManUtd fans. There might be better players out there but my guy always puts in a shift. If other United players showed the same determination as him, we’d be a much better side imo #MUFC

He hasn't had much competition but McTominay has been one of United's best players this season. Loads of energy, a bit of bite and getting better on the ball. Great goal.

Scott Mctominay may not be the most talented player in the world but his determination and passion for this club was the reason we got a point today. He was absolutely everywhere winning free kicks from going forward and scored a beautiful finish. #MUFC #ManchesterUnited

Fantastic goal from Scott McTominay. Dan James is Manchester United’s best forward – so dangerous with the ball at his feet.

McTominay started the game with a number of tactical fouls but he made up for the same with the most successful tackles while making as many as six recoveries, as per Squawka.
Elsewhere, the Scotland international should have bagged more than one goal on the night but it was not meant to be after his free header in the box went over the bar from six yards out.
With the stalemate, United have jumped to the top half of the standings with 10 points on the board but that does not make for good reading, considering it’s their worst ever start to a Premier League season after seven games.
Manchester United will shift focus to the Europa League on Thursday night where they are scheduled to face Dutch side AZ Alkmaar on the road. The game should see a boost on the injury front with Diogo Dalot and Angel Gomes touted to return from their knocks.
