Manchester United duo Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat could miss up to nine games for the club following their qualification for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Onana made his international comeback with Cameroon last night. The West African nation progressed to the final stage after a 3-0 win over Burundi at home.
Meanwhile, Amrabat and Morocco booked their place in the competition in the previous matchday. Their final group game was postponed due to an earth quake.
The pair are now expected to miss several games for United at the beginning of next year.
The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to be held in the Ivory Coast between January 13 and February 11.
Onana and Amrabat could be absent for the Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United and Aston Villa if they make the final.
Meanwhile, they could miss both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-finals as well as the third and fourth rounds of the FA Cup if they are active in both competitions.
The FA Cup third round tie will be held on January 5/6/7, but the pair may not be available as Cameroon and Morocco may call them up for a pre-tournament camp.
Aside from those eight fixtures, the duo could also miss the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, which could be played just 48 hours after the AFCON final.
United are likely to play Altay Bayindir between the sticks in Onana’s absence. Scott McTominay could get more minutes with Amrabat on international duty in early 2024.
