Ole had this to save about David de Gea following Spurs win

David de Gea produced another heroic display as Manchester United came away from Wembley Stadium with a 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Marcus Rashford scored the game’s only goal on the stroke of half-time following an excellent assist from Paul Pogba, but it was our Spanish goalkeeper that put in the match of the match performance.

De Gea pulled off 11 saves during the 90 minutes, most during the second half, including four from Harry Kane, to keep his fourth clean sheet of the season.

Tottenham saw 61% of the possession and saw a lot of it in our territory, but were denied by some superb goalkeeping that we have been used to seeing from David de Gea over the past couple of years.

Speaking after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for his goalkeeper, telling MUTV:

“[David was] fantastic. Obviously when you make 11 saves that is a top, top performance but then again I thought that one or two were really good saves and then the rest of them you would expect David to save. He is the best goalkeeper in the world, I have said it many times. It is about positioning and concentration to be in the right position. Maybe one or two of them were uncatchable, but the saves he makes are because he is so in tune with the game. He is following the game, moving all the time. They don’t always look fantastic because he is in the right position.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won all six of his matches as caretaker manager since replacing Jose Mourinho in mid-December, with five of those being in the Premier League.

Another clean sheet on Sunday means we have kept three successive, including the 2-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup. We are next in action at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
