Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants one more signing after Bruno Fernandes: report

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he would prefer to sign an aggressive striker before the transfer window closes on Friday night.

The Red Devils have recently confirmed an agreement to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting and the deal should go through, provided he has a successful medical and agrees to terms over a long-term contract.

The club are now looking at the prospect of signing a new striker on loan, particularly with Marcus Rashford unavailable for the next few months after a stress fracture in his back.

Speaking after United’s 1-0 win over Manchester City on Wednesday night, Solskjaer was asked about the possibility of landing a new centre-forward, and he acknowledged that he would prefer a goalscorer, who can offer a physical presence upfront.

United have been linked with a possible loan move for Islam Slimani from Leicester City before the transfer deadline on Friday but the deal remains complicated with the Foxes needing to terminate his temporary contract with AS Monaco.

Solskjaer’s side came victorious with a 1-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night but it was only a consolation for the players, considering that was not sufficient to see them progress to the League Cup final.

The damage was already made during a poor first-half performance at Old Trafford which contributed to a 3-1 defeat in the first leg of the semi-final at Old Trafford. They could not recover the two-goal deficit despite a strong display from David de Gea between the sticks.
