Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to weed deadwood out of Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reboot at Manchester United is entering phase two. The Norwegian manager has been nothing but ruthless in clearing out the deadwood and it looks like the trend will continue this summer transfer window as well. The Telegraph is reporting that Manchester United will look to sell, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard, and Diogo Dalot if they receive the right offers.

Manchester United are hoping to sell Chris Smalling and Diogo Dalot for around €20m each. Smalling is currently looking set to join Roma while multiple clubs are interested in Dalot.

Marcos Rojo’s stay at Old Trafford seems uncertain with his agent admitting that the defender is ‘likely’ to leave Manchester United at the end of the season with the defender being viewed as surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. Rojo made only nine appearances for United in the first half of the season before he was loaned out to boyhood club Estudiantes in the January transfer window and is keen to return to his native country on a permanent deal this summer.

The Red Devils may also be forced to sell Jesse Lingard this summer with his contract set to expire next year. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to keep the midfielder as a squad option. That, however, would only delay the possibility of losing Lingard for free next year.

United may also force defender Phil Jones to move this summer following yet another underperforming season.

United are planning to sell these 6 players to raise money and fund the transfer of Jadon Sancho who will reportedly cost £ 120 million.
