Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals who could replace Ashley Young’s position at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he is comfortable with the full-back options at his disposal despite the recent departure of Ashley Young to Inter Milan.

The England international made the permanent move to the Nerazurri earlier on Friday and that has left a possible void with the veteran having acted as the back-up for the right and left-back positions this term.

In the press conference ahead of the Liverpool game, Solskjaer was asked whether the club could pursue a replacement for Young but he happened to dismiss the prospects by talking up the players available.

The Norwegian head coach highlighted that Timothy Fosu-Mensah will soon make his comeback after a long-term knee injury and the club graduate has the experience of playing on the right side of the backline.

Solskjaer added that Diogo Dalot is another player available to him and he is content with the squad depth, considering the Portuguese is capable of featuring on either side of the central defence.

“Timothy (Fosu-Mensah) is coming back as well and he’s a right-back, he’s played for Holland as a right-back at the age of 19, so we also want him back. Diogo is back fit, so in the full-back position I think we’re quite OK,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

During his press conference, Solskjaer did not give a mention for Marcos Rojo and that could be a hint that the Argentine may head through the exit door before the transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, the United boss has confirmed that Harry Maguire will be the club-captain after the departure of Young. Solskjaer has been impressed by the leadership skills of the central defender.
