Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides fresh update on Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United: report

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on the future of Paul Pogba following the club’s 5-0 win over Linzer ASK in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16.

The Frenchman has experienced an injury-plagued season with the Red Devils and he has been restricted to just seven appearances in the Premier League to date.

Pogba is nearing a return to first-team training following a surgery for a nagging ankle problem in January but that has not ceased the speculation surrounding his position with the club.

Speaking after the win over LASK, Solskjaer was asked for a fresh update on the midfielder’s future. In response, he was confident that the 26-year-old will stay put with the club.

“Paul’s our player. He has two years left on his contract. A year plus the option of another. You can expect Paul to be here [next season], yeah,” he told.

Pogba has less than 15 months remaining on his current contract but United will definitely prolong his stay for another year by triggering the extension clause available.

Of late, there has been the suggestion that Pogba is prepared to sign a new and improved contract with United after being impressed with the club’s progress over the past couple of months.

Meanwhile, Pogba is said to relish the prospect of playing alongside winter signing Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese has made a big impression and has bagged three goals and four assists from just nine appearances.
