Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides fresh injury update on Marcus Rashford

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided a fresh injury update on Marcus Rashford ahead of the club’s Europa League clash against Club Brugge away from home.

The England international sustained a stress fracture in his back last month and it was initially suggested by Solskjaer that he could make his recovery by the middle of March.

However, the Norwegian has now revealed that Rashford will be sidelined for another few months at the least and is hopeful that the 22-year-old can make his comeback before the season concludes.

“I would hope Marcus is playing this season. It’ll just be touch-and-go towards the end. So hopefully we can go through and get through this tournament and prolong the season,” he told.

“It takes time. I’m not a doctor, but obviously I was hoping that he would recover quicker than it actually looks like he is going to be out for. So another few months definitely.”

Aside from Rashford, Paul Pogba, Axel Tuanzebe, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Scott McTominay, Lee Grant and Mason Greenwood are unavailable and have not travelled with the team to Belgium.

There has, however, been a timely boost with Victor Lindelof overcoming the illness which kept him out of the Chelsea game. It remains to be seen whether the Swede will make the starting lineup to face Brugge.

Solskjaer has confirmed that he may rotate his squad for the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 clash in Bruges and Odion Ighalo could be handed with his full debut in the United shirt.

The Nigerian managed just three minutes off the bench in the 2-0 win over Chelsea on Monday night but he made positive impression with one take-on and a shot on target, as per whoscored.
