Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided a fresh update on the injury sustained by Anthony Martial in a training session earlier in the week.
The Frenchman has been in a good run of scoring form following the winter break and he has managed to find the net in his last three appearances for the club in all competitions.
However, he was not involved in the recent European meeting against Club Brugge and Solskjaer has now confirmed that the Frenchman had picked up a thigh injury in training.
“He went off [during] training yesterday and had treatment. He reported this morning and had a fitness test. It’s not his hamstring, it’s his thigh, in and around the knee,” he told.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer added that the Frenchman remains doubtful for the Premier League trip to Everton, considering he needs further medical assessment to determine the extent of the problem.
Should Martial miss the Merseyside trip, Odion Ighalo will definitely get the chance to make his first Premier League start for United, having impressed on his full Europa League debut with a goal.
United have impressed in an attacking and defensive point of view after the winter break and they have scored 11 times in the past four matches in all competitions, while conceding the solitary goal.
Still, they can’t afford to get complacent ahead of the Everton clash at Goodison Park. The Toffees have succumbed to just two defeats from nine top-flight games under manager Carlo Ancelotti.
