Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides an update on Anthony Martial’s injury: report

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Anthony Martial picked up a muscle injury which contributed to his absence for the second leg of the Europa League round of 32 tie against Club Brugge.

The Frenchman had been in good form in the lead-up to the game with three goals from as many matches but his unavailability saw Odion Ighalo handed with his maiden start in the United shirt.

Ighalo scored his debut goal for the club in a comfortable 5-0 win over the Belgian outfit and the Nigerian appears certain to lead the line against Everton with Solskjaer unsure over the recovery period for Martial.

“He [Anthony] didn’t feel right during the training yesterday, or he walked off during the training, and he is injured so hopefully it won’t be too bad. But I don’t really know yet how long it will be,” he told

United comfortably sealed their progress to the round of 16 stage of the European competition and they will find out their next opponents during tomorrow’s draw at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon.

Up next, Solskjaer’s side have a tricky away game at Everton in the Premier League but the players should go into the game with plenty of confidence after the 5-0 thumping of Club Brugge.

January signing Bruno Fernandes has definitely contributed to the improved displays following the winter break and United have the chance to end a two-match winless run against the Toffees on Sunday.
