Ole Gunnar Solskjaer predicts key injury boost ahead of Tottenham clash

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that one of Scott McTominay or Paul Pogba could be available for the midweek Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils have failed to win any of their previous three games in all competitions and they now face a testing challenge against Spurs, who are currently under the tutelage of former boss Jose Mourinho.

The north London side have won each of their three matches under the Portuguese with a minimum of three goals scored but they have shown the tendency to concede which United will need to capitalise upon.

Speaking shortly after the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, Solskjaer revealed that the midfield options could be enhanced for the Wednesday clash against Spurs and one of McTominay or Pogba could be fit for the game.

“We have still got two days and we need to look at everyone here as well. We have only got two days, so let’s see, but, hopefully, we can see one of them on the pitch. They are working hard behind the scenes,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

Fred and Andreas Pereira have played in the central midfield in the past two league games but they have been far from impressive with the latter’s distribution and crossing recently leading to criticism from some fans.

As a result, the club definitely require a change in personnel in the centre of the park and McTominay may be the likelier choice to make the lineup, considering he has been sidelined with an ankle injury for just three weeks.

In comparison, Pogba has been out of action for more than two months with what has been mentioned as an ankle fracture and Solskjaer may need to handle the midfielder’s comeback with caution unlike McTominay, who has seen plenty of gametime of late.
