Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Luke Shaw won’t recovery from his hamstring injury to face West Ham United this weekend and the same could remain the case with Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.
Shaw sustained the muscular problem during the shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last month and he has since been in the treatment room. Meanwhile, Martial suffered a thigh injury during the closing stages of the same encounter while Pogba has been sidelined with an ankle problem picked up at Southampton before the international break.
Speaking after the recent Europa League clash against Astana, Solskjaer has revealed that Shaw is definitely out of the Hammers game while Pogba and Martial are unlikely to make the matchday squad, considering the French duo are yet to return to regular training with their teammates.
“Not really, no. They have not been training yet. Luke won’t be ready,” he was quoted as saying by Manutd.com.
Elsewhere, Daniel James was a surprise exclusion from the midweek Europa League game with a minor knock and Solskjaer has refused to give assurances over the Welshman’s comeback for the Premier League clash in the English capital this weekend.
“I don’t know [if he’ll be fit]. [He’s] not trained for the past few days. Hopefully he will, but we’re not sure. We will have a recovery day tomorrow [Friday] and see on Saturday,” the Norwegian added.
Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are the other absentees for the Hammers clash but Solskjaer has not provided any update on their status, considering they are sidelined for the long-term. United will be eyeing back-to-back league wins for the first time this season when they make the trip to the London Stadium.
