Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Sergio Romero will definitely feature in goal when the Red Devils face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
Romero has appeared in just seven games for United in the League Cup and Europa League this season and out of those, the Argentine has impressed by keeping five clean sheets in the process.
With a Cup tie, it was anticipated that Romero would get the nod over David de Gea between the sticks and the same has been confirmed by Solskjaer ahead of tomorrow’s late kick-off at the Molineux Stadium.
“Sergio will play and he will be in goal. He has played in the Carabao Cup a couple of times and he has played in Europe, so he is keeping his record up with those games. He has not played enough, for his liking, but whenever he has been called upon, he has always produced,” he told.
Since Wolves’ return to the top-flight last season, United have faced them on four matches in all competitions and they have been unable to come victorious with two draws and two defeats.
As such, the forthcoming FA Cup tie should present another test for Solskjaer’s side, particularly with their struggles on the road during the course of the current campaign.
United were comfortably beaten by Arsenal in the previous league outing and there won’t be any surprises, if multiple changes are made to the starting lineup due to form and fitness concerns.
Mason Greenwood, Andreas Pereira, Ashley Young and Brandon Williams are possibly among the players, who could be drafted into the lineup to face Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Saturday evening.
