Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Victor Lindelof is back in contention ahead of the weekend’s FA Cup fourth tie against Tranmere Rovers on the road.
Lindelof was sidelined with an illness prior to the Premier League clash against Burnley and that subsequently saw him miss the midweek game where the Red Devils suffered a shock 2-0 defeat.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Cup tie, Solskjaer has revealed that the Swede is available for the Tranmere encounter at Prenton Park, where United will be the overwhelming favourites to progress despite their recent form.
“Victor will be available again. He’s recovered so it’s one more to choose from. That’s good and I don’t think anyone suffered any bad injuries, no, in midweek,” he told.
The pitch does not appear the best at Prenton Park but Solskjaer has refused to speak on the surface and stated that United will have to deal with the same conditions as the hosts on Sunday.
Lindelof may get a new central defensive partner in the form of Eric Bailly at Tranmere. The Ivorian has not played for the Red Devils in a competitive game since April 2019 due to back-to-back knee injuries.
Aside from Bailly, Solskjaer will definitely select a number of young and fringe players in the starting XI and the likes of Sergio Romero, Mason Greenwood and Diogo Dalot should play through the 90 minutes.
The Red Devils have managed just two wins since the beginning of the year. Solskjaer will be expecting the team to comfortably progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup irrespective of the players making the lineup.
