Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that midfielder Paul Pogba has returned to first-team training ahead of the weekend’s Premier League clash against Watford on the road.
The Frenchman was initially expected to report for first-team training earlier in the week but a slight illness meant that he could not practice alongside his teammates prior to the League Cup quarter-final tie.
He has, however, recovered from the minor setback ahead of the league clash at Vicarage Road and Solskjaer has confirmed that the Frenchman has returned to normal training after more than two months out with an ankle concern.
Still, the 26-year-old midfielder is not expected to return to make the matchday squad against the Hornets on Sunday and Solskjaer has indicated that he has no idea regarding a suitable comeback date.
“Paul [Pogba] is training. He’s back in with the team so we’ll see how long it takes for him to feel ready to be part of a game. It’s a similar squad to what we’ve had the last few weeks,” he told MUTV.
Pogba has not featured for the Red Devils since the 1-1 league draw against Arsenal in late September where he aggravated an ankle injury, sustained against Southampton earlier in the season.
There has been the speculation that the World Cup winner could be heading for a possible departure during the winter transfer window but Solskjaer has clearly stated that the midfielder won’t be sold.
United, who are unbeaten in six league matches, are currently four points adrift of Chelsea, who are occupying the final Champions League spot after 17 games into the season.
