Manchester United travel to Leicester City on Sunday needing to avoid defeat to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Should we lose, then we would still finish in the top four if Wolverhampton Wanderers were to win away to Chelsea.
Prior to our final Premier League game of the 2019-20 campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning and has given a team news and injury update.
The boss has confirmed that we will be without four defenders for the trip to the King Power Stadium.
Left-back Luke Shaw and centre-back Eric Bailly have recently joined the injury list, but the boss has said both will have every chance to prove their fitness before Sunday.
We are already without both Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe.
Shaw has been out since twisting his ankle against former club Southampton more than a week ago, whilst Bailly missed the 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Wednesday following a head injury in the FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea on Sunday.
Ole told MUTV:
“We’re going to give them as much time as possible, I’m not going to rule anything out.”
Should neither be fit in time to face the Foxes then the probable back four will consist of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Brandon Williams.
Manchester United have looked tired in recent games following an excruciating fixture list over the past fortnight. We have played four games to Leicester’s two since last Monday.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are in poor form themselves, having been eight points ahead of us at the restart, now one behind. They were hammered 3-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend but haven’t played since.
