Ole believes 3rd place is still achievable

Manchester United were comfortable 3-0 winners over Sheffield United on Wednesday night at Old Trafford to move us to within two points of fourth place Chelsea.

The Blues are in action this evening when they host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard’s side were 2-1 winners away to Aston Villa on Sunday before City hammered Burnley 5-0 the following night.

The Citizens had already thumped Arsenal 3-0 in the opening day of the 2019-20 Premier League restart last week to give us good hope they can do us a favour by beating the West London outfit on Thursday.

Leicester City were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion this week, following up from their 1-1 draw at Watford over the weekend. This has allowed us to move within six points of the team in third. Leicester host Chelsea in an FA Cup quarter-final tie this weekend.

Speaking after our 3-0 victory over Sheffield United, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer hasn’t written off our chances of finishing in the top three just yet, telling MUTV:

“I’ve never said fourth is our aim! We want to go third or fourth, but we have to focus on each game as it comes. There are two cups [the Europa League and Emirates FA Cup] there for us as well, so one game at a time and hopefully, by the end, we can have the points we need and maybe only have two teams in front of us.”

After we travel to Norwich City in the FA Cup on Saturday, we are next in Premier League action away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday. Chelsea have a London derby away to West Ham United the following night, whilst Leicester are away to Everton at the same time.
