Manchester United’s on-loan striker Odion Ighalo has heaped praise on Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes, who were impressive form for the Red Devils before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Martial has played in his preferred centre-forward position during the current campaign following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan last summer.
The Frenchman has gone through certain periods where he has been inconsistent but prior to the shutdown, he was in superb form with four goals from six appearances in all competitions.
Overall, Martial has bagged 16 goals for the season and he has shown that he can handle the goalscoring burden even in the injury absence of Marcus Rashford.
Speaking to the club’s official website through a video call, Ighalo described Martial as a great player and he is hopeful that the Frenchman can sustain his goalscoring form for the campaign.
“Anthony, since I came, he’s been scoring goals and doing so well, fighting a lot. He is a great player, he has great technique. He can do anything with the ball and he’s been doing fantastically well. I just hope he keeps going and scoring more goals and we end the season very well,” He told.
Meanwhile, Ighalo added that he has also been impressed with the contribution from fellow winter arrival Bruno Fernandes, who has registered three goals and four assists from the space of nine outings.
Ighalo previously said that his former Udinese teammate has yet to play to the best of his ability and he reiterated the same on Sunday while appreciating the Portuguese’s good co-ordination with his strikers.
“He is intelligent, he has foresight, he has vision. He sees what he wants to do with the ball before it comes to him. You can see the understanding between him and Martial, you can see the understanding between me and him, so he’s a very good player. And he’s not even settled down yet!,” He added.
