‘No player bigger than the club’: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer warns Paul Pogba

As the January transfer window is approaching, the conversation for Manchester United is revolving largely around star midfielder Paul Pogba. The Frenchman was bought by the club for, a then, record fee of £89m in 2016. Since arriving at Old Trafford, Pogba has struggled with frequent injuries, has remained under constant media scrutiny, and his inconistent performances for the club has seen him often being left out on the bench.

Earlier this month, Pogba’s agent Min0 Raiola told Tuttosport that his time has come to an end at Old Trafford, just before United’s hugely important Champions League clash against RB Leipzig. But is the club looking to sell Pogba in January?

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer warned the midfielder earlier this week that no player is bigger than the club. “Paul was here as a kid in the under-18s, we signed him early on, he comes with the Man Utd DNA in him,” the Norweigian manager was quoted as saying by Sunday Mirror.

“He knows what we are about. Man Utd is about being in a team. I would not stand for anyone thinking he is bigger than Man Utd because no-one is. Absolutely no-one is and Paul knows this. It is not only Paul, it is for all of us,” Ole said.

“Paul has always been an ambitious boy who loves playing football. He trains well, he never refuses to train or play, he has got a good attitude. He’s been injured this season, he has had Covid. Now he is just about getting back to full fitness.

“Of course he wants to do as well as he can when he is in the team, however many minutes he gets on the pitch,” the United boss added.

Since joining the club in 2016, Pogba has scored 26 Premier League goals in 121 games along with 26 assists. In the ongoing season, he has made 10 EPL appearances for the club in which he has scored 1 goal and 0 assists so far.
